Gear Up for School is a backpack drive that brings together all ages of the community to provide fully supplied backpacks for student at the start of the school year. Backpack recipients include children in NH's Department of Health and Human Services Foster Care Program and the Manchester School District. The Queen City-Manchester and Hooksett Area Rotary Clubs organize the drive annually.
Youth help pack backpacks that other kids receive, inspiring volunteering and community service from a young age. We purchase supplies in bulk that over 100 volunteers use to assemble thousands of supplied backpacks during our two-day event. Then representatives from the Foster Care Program and School District collect them for distribution 2023 Distribution Breakdown 1,600 to the Manchester School District 680 to the NH's DHHS Foster Care Program 30 for Additional Requests Over 2,300 in Total! Tax Deductible Donation Information
The Queen City Rotary Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Sponsorships and individual donations are tax-deductible. Each $15 donated means a student receives a backpack filled with school supplies at the start of the year. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to provide over 2,300 supplied backpacks to students across New Hampshire.
